Can you play chess like Karpov?

NH News presents a fun campaign. According to an article published on 22 February, they are looking for Dutch people who would like to play a game of chess against Henk Spuls. Henk Spuls is 82 years old, suffers from Alzheimer's but likes nothing better than playing chess. But there is a problem. There is no opponent. At least, no opponent who can take him on. Therefore Henk is desperately looking for a formidable opponent who loves chess and dares to play a game.

Robert, son of the chess-lover, says: "My father has been diagnosed with Alzheimer's disease and he forgets a lot of things. But there is one thing he does not forget and that is that he can play chess very well." Robert was not only looking for a chess buddy but also for social contacts for his father. In the Netherlands, there are about 270,000 people living with some form of dementia. Social contacts often deteriorate among dementia sufferers. They withdraw and no longer find pleasure in contact with others.

Therefore, ISC comes up with a brand new concept for the elderly. Under the name International Senior Concepts, we create game concepts for nursing homes and other residential or leisure facilities for the elderly.

With our interactive BRYM table, we encourage the elderly to get together and play. But we also show Henk Spuls that he can easily play a game of chess against the computer.
